THE GALLOWS - Review
Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures / New Line Cinema
Synopsis: In 1993, high school student Charlie Grimille (CROSS) died by the noose in a freak accident during Beatrice High’s production of the play “The Gallows.” Twenty years later, on the eve of the play’s revival, students Reese (MISHLER), Pfeifer (BROWN), Cassidy (GIFFORD) and Ryan (SHOOS) spend the night trapped in the school’s auditorium, with no way to call for help. If Charlie has his way, it may be the last night they spend alive.
Review: There is a lot to like about THE GALLOWS. The urban legend and the plot are classic, but not cliched. The young actors are solid and sell the scares. I like the ghosts concept and design, and the special effects frightfully executed - pun intended.

Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real, and as soon as she was old enough she left. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother (BELLO), Sophie, has returned. Rebecca is determined to uncover the truth and as she gets closer to revealing the mystery behind the phantom that plagues her family there is no denying that all their lives are in danger as darkness falls..
Review: The fear of the dark, one of many primal fears shared by humanity. How can you go wrong when you tell this type of story in a dark movie theater. LIGHTS OUT is one of those films that is enhanced by the communal movie going experience.
